Irish Eyes
November 2014
30 1/4″ x 33 1/4″
$2100
I was looking for inspiration recently and cornered my friend into posing for me. I took a lot of pictures that day, many of them worthy (I thought anyway) for the mantle, but I loved this one of her looking up after having played with her dog. There was a shine of happiness and playfulness in her eyes that I’ve tried to capture.
And when I was thinking of a name for this piece, I couldn’t help but think of Irish Eyes are Smiling, written by Chauncey Olcott and George Graff, Jr.
"When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, 'tis like the morn in Spring.
In the lilt of Irish laughter
You can hear the angels sing.
When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
And when Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure, they steal your heart away."
